A lot of people say that Vietnam is a place where girls are good at picking up guys. If you think that, you are not going to get into dating girls in Vietnam. In reality, there is nothing wrong with girls picking up guys. They do it all the time.
When I was a teenager, my parents brought me to Vietnam to study English. I thought it was a good choice because it was cheaper than getting a job in the States. In fact, it turned out to be a better idea than I had thought. As soon as I arrived, I saw how much better life was in Vietnam compared to the US. This changed my life, but it would be months before I felt safe enough to return home. You see, when I arrived in Vietnam, I was a very strange boy. I didn't have any friends and I didn't speak any language. It was almost as if I had been abducted from the real world. When I first arrived at my hotel, I was greeted by a man who gave me an address and a hotel number. He said he was with the local police and that it was a good place to stay. He even sent me to the local police station for a report. He asked me if I needed any money. I said I would pay him 100,000, and I could bring money from the bank when I got there. "I will make sure you are safe" he said. I was speechless. How was he able to see the dark side of the world so well? A few months later we saw each other again. It was time to be together. He took me to a local bar, and I saw a woman. He told me to come home. The second time, he took me to the market. We both drank a lot and we ended up getting married. This is the story of how we met and what happened in the years that followed.
We met when I was 16 years old, but I did not meet her for several months. But on the second day of our wedding, I saw her there and she asked me to marry her. I was not surprised when she was still standing at the wedding. She said that she needed to talk to her parents and asked if I would like to visit her in the country. So, I asked if I could go with her and the only way to know how they were doing was to go to the country. My parents had a great love for Vietnam so I accepted to go there. My parents were very proud of me and my first day in Hanoi was the first time I saw the Vietnam War memorial and the Vietnam War National Museum in downtown Ho Chi Minh City. I was very happy because I would meet a Vietnamese girl and my family. My mom was so proud and the happiest I have ever been. But my parents told me to look after the house because my father was going on a trip and he wouldn't be back for two months. I thought that it would be a good idea to start a family. The first day in Hanoi I was so nervous because I didn't know anyone. I looked in the mirror and it was a normal face. But I saw some eyes and my mother asked me if I was sure that's how I looked. I said yes, she gave me her blessing and we hugged. My father had a tough life and I saw how he always struggled to make a living. It's a hard life. I was afraid that maybe he would never find a good job again. I don't know where he is now. I always wonder. I'm in the Philippines now, so I have to look into it, I have to find out.
How to say thank you (in the real way) in Vietnam (I'm not the best at this): When you arrive in Vietnam, the first thing to do is to get the driver to turn on the main road for you. And to make it easy on you, the drivers usually do this by writing the name of the place or person on the license plate. You have to do this. After that, I've never been so happy to get a taxi, or the driver would always ask me where I'm from. And I'll say, "Vietnam," as I'm from Vietnam. And the driver would ask me if I was from the same province, and that would make me feel good, like I was being recognized. That's something I was taught as a child by my parents, and I've always wanted to tell my parents that.
I remember one time I was in Vietnam and I went to this park in the city. And when I went into the park, I saw this girl walking in the park. And this girl started walking towards me, and as soon as she saw me, she looked like she was looking for something, but she kept going towards me. It was like she just didn't care about me.
